The year 2018 has been good for Kris Wu. The 28-year-old performer becomes a big star in China, "The Rap of China" judge, a fashion icon, and an influential hip-hop artist. With his songs' domination in international music charts and the release of a new album, "Antares," the model-singer- actor is making the Chinese music known all over the world.

"I feel this year's definitely been a building project for me, especially because I'm here [in New York]," Kris Wu told Forbes in an interview. "I've done a lot, just kind of spent a lot of time at the beginning of this year finishing up the album."

"Antares" was about to be released in summer, but it got moved to a later date - November. Although it was pushed back, Kris Wu believed it was for the better. He even found it lucky as it was his birthday month. He was born on November 6, 1990.

On November 2, Kris Wu finally dropped his first solo album, "Antares," after releasing a lot of songs over the years. His new LP aimed to get the attention of the broader audience and the global music market.

Kris Wu saw "Antares" as a "body of work" that would represent his personality as an artist. The album featured three Chinese songs, and the rest are English tracks. Although his new record has local tracks, the former EXO member believed language didn't matter in music. "Music is very universal," he said. He added that some people might not understand what it meant, but if they liked it, they would continue listening to the track.

Talking about his aspiration to introduce the Chinese music to international fans and conquer the global music scene, Kris Wu knew that it would be "really meaningful" for the country and its people if he could make it happen. China has great movie actors like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee, but it has no known music artist internationally.

However, Kris Wu admitted that his being Chinese made it harder for him to enter the global stage. But, he promised to give his best shot for his new album, "Antares," for himself, for what he loves to do, and for what he believes in.

Aside from being loved for his musical and acting talents, Kris Wu is also a new fashion favorite. The Chinese-Canadian star is known for his androgynous style by combining street flair and high fashion.

In fact, according to the South China Morning Post, Kris Wu is now representing China's younger generation. He is even the ambassador of some luxury brands like Bulgari, Burberry and, Louis Vuitton.

Kris Wu revealed he is a follower of streetwear brands like Supreme and Off-White. He also collects exclusive sneaker brands.
