Facebook Messenger is set to have one amazing feature for its users. The prominent application will soon let the users delete the sent messages up to 10 minutes after originally sending them to the recipient.

According to The Verge, Twitter user @MattNavarra spotted the feature was listed as "coming soon." This was seen in the release notes for the version 191.0 of Messenger's iOS client. In comparison to the hour, Facebook gives you to delete an erroneous WhatsApp message, 10 minutes obviously won't give you enough time to correct the error message. On the other hand, it is still way better than having your mistakes remain eternally.

The "unsend" functionality of the messenger was on the cards since April. This was after Facebook admitted that they had been silently deleting the messages, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg sent. The report adds that the functionality was first spotted last October during its testing.

At the moment, a facebook messenger being finally taking back ill-conceived messages on Facebook. Therefore, the messages can be wiped off from your chat history and it will be removed the message from the recipient's inbox as well.

Facebook's release notes read:

"Remove a message from a chat thread after it's been sent. If you accidentally send the wrong photo, incorrect information or message the wrong thread, you can easily correct it by removing the message within ten minutes of sending it."

Mashable reported that the current situation of Facebook users now is being able to delete messages they sent from their own inbox but the message's recipient can still see them. This is how it worked for users, of course, that is not Mark Zuckerberg.

A report early this year revealed the company deleting old Facebook messages sent by Mark Zuckerberg from the recipient's inboxes. Unfortunately, the users who had their mailboxes scrubbed of Zuckerberg's texts were not even informed of the removal. With this, Facebook apologized and assured people they will disseminate the unsend feature to everyone in the upcoming months.

As mentioned earlier, in compare to Facebook, WhatsApp actually have specifically less time to delete a sent message in this flagship Messenger app. Its users have now been able just over one hour to remove a message from both of the users' inbox. It can be recalled the unsend feature of Google for Gmail allows users to choose the length of time they have to unsend an email.

While Facebook will not allow us to have Zuckerberg's god-level ability to completely scrub 8-year-old messages, users can certainly take advantage of the ten minutes unsent deletion functionality.
