'NCIS' Season 16's New Forensic Scientist Receives Advice From Pauley Perrette
NCIS has found its new forensic scientist to replace Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette). Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover) will now wear Sciuto's lab coat and combat boots in "NCIS" Season 16, and the senior Goth scientist has some advice for her successor.
Perrette and Reasonover worked together before the 49-year-old actress bid her goodbye to the long-running police procedural drama. "Pauley was so sweet when I met her," the "Clipped" star told E! News.
"She told me to just be myself, really. She was like, just bring yourself to this role," Reasonover continued to say. Before "NCIS" Season 16, the 26-year-old star believes Perrette is a "wonderful grounding force" of the show. She even finds her as a "kind and generous" woman in real life.
Reasonover's character as Hines got officially introduced as the NCIS' new forensic scientist, who replaced Perrette, in "NCIS" Season 16's premiere episode. The young actress also discussed how her role would try to fit in with her team, and it seemed like she would never have a hard time to do it.
"Kasie is a great team player, and so she's in it," Reasonover said, per Celebrity Insider. The new forensic scientist came into the picture at the time the NCIS faced a very tough challenge. Vance (Rocky Carroll) got kidnapped by the terrorist Jigel Hakim (Pej Vahdat). Though everyone had a hard time to find him, he is finally safe in "NCIS" Season 16.
Hines might be a new member of the team, but Reasonover revealed her character quickly managed to put herself to work. She even does everything she could to help everyone in "NCIS" Season 16.
Reasonover's character as Hines got first introduced in the previous season as a recurring role. He used to be Ducky's (David McCallum) assistant to finish his book. So at the time she learned Perrette would leave the show, she hoped the producers would choose her as a replacement and be a series regular in "NCIS" Season 16.
When she received the official casting call, Reasonover excitedly called her mother to tell her the good news. It might be a tough challenge to follow in Perrette's footsteps, but the actress proves she could perfectly play her role.
CBS announced Hines inclusion in "NCIS" Season 16 as a series regular in July. "Queue @DionaReasonover! We are so excited to welcome you full-time to season 16 of #NCIS as a forensic scientist, Kasie Hines!" the network tweeted along with her photo.
"NCIS" Season 16 airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
