Oneplus 7: A Pop-Up Selfie Camera, Three Rear Cameras, And No 3.5mm Audio Jack.
New leaks have surfaced, revealing the upcoming OnePlus 7 flagship's pop-up front camera and the absence of a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Are these true? Read on for more details.
Previous reports talked about a few possible details regarding the anticipated flagship. Earlier reports said it will have a notch-less display, possibly giving way for a pop-up selfie camera. A new leak confirms that.
The leak, courtesy of famed leaker @OnLeaks, shows rendered images of the alleged OnePlus 7. The images reveal what seemed to be the biggest display real estate in a OnePlus smartphone, with a 95% screen-to-body ratio.
So... To celebrate my fourth Twitter Anniversary as @OnLeaks and start 2019 leaks season, here comes a lil gift as your very first look at the #OnePlus7! 360° video + gorgeous 5K renders + dimensions, on behalf of my Friends over @Pricebaba -> https://t.co/gj5eHbiB25 pic.twitter.com/7oNyF9jgG0 — Steve H.McFly (@OnLeaks) March 3, 2019
The images, which came from OnLeaks' friends at Pricebaba, featured a smartphone with a 6.5-inch display. It had very thin bezels and, interestingly, a pop-up selfie camera. This lends credence to earlier rumors, despite them being debunked.
Aside from a pop-up selfie camera, the alleged leak also shows an additional rear sensor, which means the OnePlus 7 will feature three rear cameras. A three-camera setup isn't really spectacular given that there are other smartphone brands that feature this, but it's a first for OnePlus, so it's a good thing if it does happen.
Adieu, beloved spec
The leak has sparked a lot of feedback from netizens. While some of them don't mind having a pop-up camera, many have voiced their opinion about the matter, noting how the pop-up camera will mean weaker water resistance.
Some of them took notice of a missing, yet beloved, feature.
In the leak, there appears to be an absence of the 3.5mm headphone jack. Fans have been longing for its return. In fact, rumors of it being resurrected have surfaced online, giving hope to many wired headphone users -- especially those who have invested in good quality audio equipment.
OnePlus ditched the headphone jack in its previous flagship, the OnePlus 6T. Since then, fans had hoped to see them return the headphone jack in a future handset. The leak, however, debunks rumors of the jack's return, if it be true.
Aside from the headphone jack, OnePlus is also confirmed to have ditched wireless charging for the OnePlus 7. The confirmation came from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau who, in an interview, said wireless charging is "inferior", and their wired charging feature is one of the best today.
While some of the features are already confirmed, most are still rumors and should be taken lightly. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
