'The Winds Of Winter' Release Date: Is George R.R. Martin Done Writing The Book?
More and more fans are now thrilled for the upcoming release of The Winds of Winter after HBO dropped the trailer of Game of Thrones Season 8. George R.R. Martin, previously, hinted that some deaths in the series would not be parallel to the occurrences in the book. This, then, piqued the interest of many especially those who would like to know the fate of Jon Snow, who died and resurrected in the series.
It has been, approximately, eight years since George R.R. Martin announced that he is already working on The Winds of Winter novel. However, up to this writing, the veteran author could not provide an exact date for its official release. Though he, previously, hinted a possible early 2019 publications, recent reports suggest that the sixth installment of the A Song of Ice and Fire series is not arriving anytime soon.
As a matter of fact, George R.R. Martin, recently, expressed his regrets about his long road to completing the much-anticipated book. The 70-year-old Nightflyers writer said he is remorseful that The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring were not published before the Game of Thrones' final installment. GRRM even hinted that his imminent novels had outpaced the HBO series.
"It's been an incredible ride. And almost all of it has been great," George R.R. Martin told Entertainment Weekly. "Obviously, I wished I finished these books sooner so the show hadn't gotten ahead of me. I never anticipated that," The Winds of Winter author added on. In the same interview, GRRM also teased that he still has a lot of things to do before he could, finally, complete the A Song of Ice and Fire series.
Previous speculations suggested that the storyline of The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring had become complicated that George R.R. Martin, allegedly, decided to split these two novels into multiple volumes. The brain behind the successful Game of Thrones book series did not confirm these reports. However, he revealed that the sixth book of the A Song of Ice and Fire is, currently, his top priority. In fact, GRRM refused to do a cameo appearance on the final episode of the American fantasy drama television series so he could focus on TWOW.
Besides writing the remaining installments of the A Song of Ice and Fire series, George R.R. Martin had, also, been so busy writing the scripts of the forthcoming five Game of Thrones spinoffs. This, according to reports, is also among the many reasons behind the delay. Stay tuned to Business Times China for the latest news and updates about The Winds of Winter.
