'Toy Story' 4 Cast Keanu Reeves As Bo Peep's New Daredevil Friend Duke Kaboom
New details have emerged regarding Keanu Reeves' character on Toy Story 4. The upcoming film, slated to be in theaters on June 21, 2019, has apparently cast the John Wick star as Duke Kaboom. He's the new friend of Bo Peep (voiced by Annie Potts) and he's actually the "Greatest Daredevil in all of Canada."
According to Movieweb, Duke Kaboom has been introduced in Incredibles2 as an Easter Egg. A sharp-eyed fan spotted its action figure in Jack Jack's crib.
The character was also shown in one of the teasers to Toy Story 4, where Duke Kaboom was on his motorbike. He wore a white driving suit with an imprint of the red Canadian maple leaf symbol.
The report went on to say that Reeve's character is like Evil Knievel, the American daredevil widely known for his motorcycle stunts in the 1970s. Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) and the gang will meet him when they discover Bo Peep at a specialty store.
Apparently, Bo Peep has been at this discounted toy store for quite some time after ending up at a yard sale. Bo Peep becomes good friends with Duke Kaboom because he helped her find her flock in Toy Story 4.
Now, whether Woody will be threatened or impressed by this new character is still unclear since Duke Kaboom spent more time with Woody's girlfriend. However, it's not surprising for Reeves to take on the role since the actor is Canadian. He was likely thrilled to play such a fun character.
Tim Allen (as Buzz Lightyear) revealed Reeves casting on Toy Story 4 in an interview with Jimmy Fallon on his talk show. He said that the action figure Reeves represented is small but with a big personality.
Reeves confirmed his casting in December in an interview with Collider. He said that Disney called and pitched the role to him and he was given the chance to riff his lines.
The rest of the plot to Toy Story 4 will also introduce a new character in Forky (voiced by Tony Hale). He's actually a make-shift toy made by Bonnie, the human who now owns Andy's stuff, and will have some sort of identity crisis.
Toy Story will also feature the voices of Joan Cusack (as Jessie), Jodi Benson (as Barbie), Michael Keaton (as Ken), Blake Clark (as Slinky Dog), Timothy Dalton (as Mr. Pricklepants), Estelle Harris (as Mrs. Potato Head) and John Ratzenberger (as Hamm). John Lasseter, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich developed the screenplay that will be in theaters this June.
