After a surprising Season 2 finale, fans are now waiting what will happen next to the life of Bobby (Peter Krause) and Athena (Angela Bassett) in 9-1-1 Season 3. Despite a happy ending for the newly-wed couple, things will be different for Buck (Oliver Stark) after his traumatic injury. So, what will happen from here?

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, showrunner Tim Minear revealed Buck would be too eager to get back on the business come 9-1-1 Season 3. As he is so afraid to lose his identity, his impatience will be his biggest threat and not his accident.

Minear added 9-1-1 Season 3 would explore Buck's relationship with Ali (Tiffany Dupont). Although there seems to be some tension between the two's romance, he explained Ali is a "possibility for him and is somebody that is with him."

Minear also told TheWrap Buck's future is in doubt as he has a real "existential crisis." 9-1-1 Season 3 will be a big challenge for the much-loved firefighter. Among all the characters that survive the finale, Buck's future is the most in danger. Hence, there will be a lot of challenges for him that he needs to overcome.

In a lighter note, Buck will also have a lot of scenes with Eddie in 9-1-1 Season 3. The two have the best bond in the series. Minear even said fans are about to see Buck bonding with Eddie's (Ryan Guzman) son, Christopher (Gavin McHugh), in the new season.

Talking about Eddie, Minear revealed they intentionally included a big tragedy in his storyline with Shannon's (Devin Kelley) death to give him a different direction in 9-1-1 Season 3. Fans are about to see him a little bit crazy, but the showrunner assured it would not be a bad thing.

Viewers will also see more of Eddie's family members in 9-1-1 Season 3. Minear felt the importance of expanding the world of each character, so they are about to create a complete fictional globe for them to exist.

Meanwhile, Minear added fans could expect to see original cast members return to 9-1-1 Season 3. Although he couldn't confirm yet if there would be new faces, he revealed they have been talking who among the fan-favorite characters would make a comeback.

Minear and the rest of the show's writers are about to start working on 9-1-1 Season 3. The new season's production, on the other hand, will start in mid or late July. "I can say that if you love season two, you will love season three," he teased.
