Fear the Walking Dead season 5 is set to premiere on Sunday, June 2, at 9:00 p.m. on AMC. Fans are eager for the new episodes to air since it will mark the return of Daniel Salazar.
The character played by Ruben Blades was last seen in Fear the Walking Dead season 3 finale. His highly-anticipated return should explain where he has been holed up and what he has been doing since.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Andrew Chambliss said that like the viewers of Fear the Walking Dead, they are also excited for Salazar to rejoin the series and reintroduce the progression to his storyline. Viewers will remember that Salazar was thought to be dead after getting shot on the face by Strand (played by Colman Domingo).
"Strand has come a long way since he shot Daniel in the face. Strand has been seeking his own redemption, and I think the thing that will happen when Daniel Salazar enters the story is it's going to make both men question who they are, whether they can overcome their past, and really test whether Strand has become a new man," the showrunner said.
Salazar's return, however, will not be a permanent one. It is still a welcome change since Salazar this time around will be a nicer person whose forgiving of the person who has harmed him.
Meanwhile, it's just not old characters returning that will spice up Fear the Walking Dead season 5. According to Bleeding Cool, the series has also nabbed Matt Frewer in a secret role. Fans, however, are already speculating that Frewer's character could be this season's new big bad.
Fear the Walking Dead season 5 brings a new mission for the remaining survivors. They have to find other survivors and also look for a better place to start a new community.
Morgan Jones (played by Lennie James) will be leading the group in their search, along with Alycia Debnam-Carey (as Alicia Clark), Danay Garcia (as Luciana), Garret Dillahunt (as John Dorie), Maggie Grace (as Althea), Jenna Elfman (as June) and Karen David (as Grace). However, helping others will be a challenge for some of the characters since it's not so easy to trust people in this uncertain environment in Fear the Walking Dead.
