Production has started for Hanna season 2 after its renewal on Amazon Prime last April. The action drama series about a super assassin, which launched on the streamer in March, has been receiving rave reviews and great feedback from the platform's subscribers that it warranted a new season as soon as possible.

According to Prod Intelligencefilming dates and key crew details are being mapped out for Hannaseason 2. It is expected that principal photography could be underway by the summer with the preparations going on full swing.

According to Deadline, David Farr will still write Hanna season 2. He also wrote the 2011 movie the series is based from, which starred Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan.

"I am very much looking forward to taking Hanna on the next stage of her journey," Farr said in the press release. "The next season will take us into a whole new imaginative world. I can't wait to explore fresh terrain for this lonely young woman who wants only to belong, but who has to fight every day just to survive."

Farr also said in an interview with Metro that he has a map in his head of where Hannaseason 2 will go. However, as far as a masterplan or endgame is concerned, the writer has yet to figure those out.

Hanna follows the story of a teenage girl (played by Esmee Creed-Miles) who is living in isolation with her father Erik (played by Joel Kinnaman). He trains her to fight and hone her survival skills while living away from civilization.

However, Erik and Hanna got separated after CIA agent Marissa Wiegler (played by Mireille Enos) tracked down their whereabouts. It was later revealed in the series that Hanna is a genetically-enhanced human to be used by the CIA in its Utrax program. It also turned out that Hanna is not the lone assassin in this government arm.

Erik took Hanna from the Utrax program because he wanted her to have a normal life. The show also touches on a teenager's conflict and struggles in trying to understand what she wants to become.

Hanna season 2 is slated to be launched on Amazon Prime sometime in 2020. Viewers speculate that Hanna will face conflicts with other super soldiers just like her, particularly Clara (played by Yasmin Monet Prince), in the second season.

Meanwhile, Hanna's relationship with Marissa vastly changed in the series version compared to the movie version. On the show, Marissa ended up becoming Hanna's ally and the two will likely be reunited in Hanna season 2.
