2020 BMW M8 Coupe, Cabrio And Competition Revelead, 625hp Car Starts Sale on September
After much anticipation, BMW unveiled the first images and information on the 2020 BMW M8, the sports version of the 8 Series. The model was presented in all its forms: coupe, convertible, and an even spicier version, the Competition. The official public debut is scheduled for the #NextGen event, which will take place in Munich from June 25th to 27th.
BMW has also announced the specifications of the models. The BMW M8 Coupe and Convertible will have the 4.4 V8 twin turbo engine that will give it a powerful 600 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 750 Nm of torque performance.
As for the BMW M8 Competition version, BMW built the most powerful M engine ever as it will translate into a power of 625 hp at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 750 Nm.
In sprint mode, from 0 to 100 km / h, the different models are able to make the times between 3.3 seconds for the Coupe, 3.4 seconds for the convertible and the Competition 3.2 seconds.
BMW M has improved the chassis and engine to ensure the stability of the high performance offered by this model. It has special engine support, for a more rigid connection and a cooling system with two water circuits for high temperature. The indirect heat exchangers are integrated into a low-temperature circuit, while the high-temperature circuits correspond to the engine block and the turbochargers. An additional electric water pump ensures that the cooling of the turbos continues for a certain time when the engine is switched off. The system also has a supplementary radiator for the engine oil and another separate radiator for the gearbox.
The new BMW M8 Competition also comes standard with a specific adaptive M suspension that includes electronically controlled shock absorbers. The suspension is adapted according to the type of driving chosen: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus, just like the engine response, gear scheduling, and steering assistance.
The three 2020 BMW M8 versions have the same dimensions as the rest of Series 8 already known. They measure 4.86 meters long by 1.90 wide and 1.36 meters high and have a wheelbase of 2.82 meters. The BMW M8 Competition has a plastic roof reinforced with carbon fiber to reduce weight and the Convertible mounts a multilayer canvas hood that opens or closes in 15 seconds at the press of a button.
Details like the small rear spoiler and multiple elements finished in glossy black allow distinguishing these models at first glance. They also include large air intakes, the BMW kidney grille with double blades, M gills on the front wings, rear spoiler, rear skirt with diffuser elements and dual exhaust outlets.
Inside the 2020 BMW M8 red stitching, carbon inserts, leather sports seats optionally in two colors and specific digital instrumentation characterize these versions that have a high security and comfort equipment. The car also has an intelligent personal assistant that allows the driver direct access to all available functions of the car.
