Song Joong Ki Is Set To Transform In 'Arthdal Chronicles', Aims To Save Kim Ji Won's Character
The latest series of Song Joong Ki continues to make waves as it opens another arc. Reports have it that 3-part series Arthdal Chronicles, which is led by Song Hye Kyo's husband, is set to introduce its second chapter this coming weekend. It is claimed that the former lead star of the 2016-hit show titled Descendants of the Sun will show his darker side in the upcoming brand-new episodes.
A new key visual for the popular epic fantasy drama series was released on Wednesday, ahead of the weekend's episode. The Arthdal Chronicles poster featured the series' main stars, which include Song Joong Ki, Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ok Bin and Kim Ji Won. The four South Korean stars appear bolder in the said promotional material, which had fans speculating that there would be more daring episodes coming up in the future.
The tvN series, according to reports, would explore the mysterious identities of Song Joong Ki and Jang Dong Gun's characters - Eun Seom and Ta Gon, respectively. It is being claimed that the bolder looks of the main stars suggest a dramatic change in the series' tone. Moreover, Ok Bin, Ji Won, Jang Gun, and Joong Ki's roles, reportedly, portray even more drive in their facial expressions.
Predictions claimed that the character of Song Joong Ki would have a new identity in the forthcoming Arthdal Chronicles episodes after some of the Wahan tribe members got abducted by Ta Gon's soldiers. In the latest episode, Eun Seom and Ta Gon tried to negotiate to set their loved ones free but to no avail. In an attempt to take the Arthdal Union down, Eun Seom will go by the name Saya as he tries to execute his plan.
For starters, Song Joong Ki's character is the son of Asa Hon and Ragaz, who is a Neanderthal. Though he is a part of the Wahan tribe, some of the members still consider him as an outsider being a half Saram (human) and half Neanderthal. Eun Som is, now, being considered as Ta Gon's greatest nemesis in Arthdal Chronicles.
In the forthcoming new episodes, Eun Seom will head to Arthdal to save Tan Ya (Kim Ji Won) and the other members of the Wahan tribe. Tan Ya and Eun Seom grew up together, which explains why they are so close to each other. Tan Ya is a very sweet and thoughtful girl, which is made Eun Seom love him. It remains to be seen, however, is the two would end up together in the end.
This week's episode of Arthdal Chronicles will air on June 22 and June 23 at 9 p.m. KST on tvN. It will also be shown via Netflix. Stay tuned to Business Times for more Song Joong Ki news, and updates!
