‘The Current War’ Star Tom Holland Wants To Reunite With Benedict Cumberbatch In New MCU Film
There is little doubt that Tom Holland has a bright future considering that the Avengers: Endgame star has been signed up for several huge projects lined up in the next few years. However, there's one actor that Holland wants to continue working with in another major film. The Spider-Man: Far From Home actor has just revealed that he wants to reunite with his The Current War co-star Benedict Cumberbatch in a possible Marvel Cinematic Universe flick. Could Peter Parker team up with Doctor Strange in a Marvel movie?
Tom Holland had previously worked with Benedict Cumberbatch in Avengers: Infinity War where Peter Parker and Tony Stark teamed up to save Stephen Strange from Ebony Maw. The two even had one of the most hilarious exchanges in the film when Peter introduces himself to Doctor Strange. Although they didn't have any scenes together in Endgame, Holland and Cumberbatch would soon be reunited in The Current War. But is there any chance that they will work together again in another MCU movie?
The cast of Spider-Man: Far From Home recently sat down for an interview with Cinemablend where they were asked what they were hoping to see in the future. Interestingly, Tom Holland immediately stated that he wants to work with Benedict Cumberbatch again in a Marvel film.
"I'm really wanting to do a team-up with Doctor Strange, because we're both New Yorkers and I just really like the idea of a science guy being teamed up with a guy who does magic, because it totally contradicts everything he knows," Holland said. "And I like the idea that there is real science that Peter Parker talks about, and then there's Doctor Strange gibberish, where he's like 'The time rift and the thing and the thing,' so it's kind of fun."
The idea of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange teaming up in an MCU flick certainly sounds like fun considering that their personalities are so different. While it may take a while before Marvel can pick up on Tom Holland's pitch, fans can still see Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch working together on The Current War.
In The Current War, Benedict Cumberbatch plays Thomas Edison, who goes up against Nikola Tesla (Nicholas Hoult) and George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) in the War of the Currents. The film is scheduled for release on October 4.
