Not much is known about the premise of Star Wars Episode 9. It has already been confirmed that all the characters will set off on a new mission but their missions continue to be a huge mystery. Because of this, fans have been trying to get the cast of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to tell them what will happen in the highly anticipated film. Luckily, one fan managed to get Mark Hamill to offer a brief yet fitting explanation.

Mark Hamill has been playing Luke Skywalker for more than four decades and there is little doubt that the character continues to be Hamill's most well-known role. He has reprised the role in the sequel trilogy and is expected to return in The Rise of Skywalker despite Luke's unfortunate death in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. So how exactly will Luke get brought back in Star Wars Episode 9? There are several theories surrounding the Jedi Master's comeback in the film.

Some believe that Luke Skywalker didn't actually die in The Last Jedi and will be revealed to still be very much alive. However, others have also pointed out that Luke's past will be revisited in several flashback scenes. In addition to that, people have pointed out that the international title for The Rise of Skywalker suggests Luke will be resurrected at some point in the movie. Either way, Mark Hamill's description of Episode 9 pretty much sums up what fans can expect this December.

A fan recently asked Mark Hamill on Twitter to describe The Rise of Skywalker in just three words. Hamill, who is known for his strong social media presence, gave the fan exactly what they wanted.

"My final episode," Mark Hamill wrote in response to the tweet. It's a depressing realization for most fans knowing that Star Wars Episode 9 is the final film in the Skywalker Saga that had focused on Luke Skywalker and his father Anakin Skywalker. Unfortunately, the film might be the last time Hamill will play Luke Skywalker. Nevertheless, people are hoping that Luke gets a proper ending later this year.

Will Luke Skywalker get resurrected in Episode 9 or will he simply appear as a Force Ghost? Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will premiere on December 20.
