Barbra Streisand Jokes About Rumored Romance With Prince Charles Before
Barbra Streisand and Prince Charles first met in 1974, and 20 years later, the two were rumored having a romantic relationship. During her British Summer Time Hyde Park gig last Sunday night, the 77-year-old iconic singer joked about her rumored romance with the Prince of Wales many years ago.
Streisand flashed several images of her memorable moments in London, as well as herself, meeting Prince Charles. While reminiscing, the singer said she could have been the "first Jewish Princess" if she played her cards right. She even showed a newspaper cutting on the screen that directly referenced the Prince of Wales, saying: "Barbra charms her prince, Charles."
The two have been linked years ago; they first met in 1974 on the set of the singer's movie Funny Lady, then they met again in 1994 when she performed for his Prince's Trust charity at Wembley Arena in London. Also, an explosive biography in 2006 claimed the two had a "secret affair," and the prince allegedly romanced her during his US trip in 1994.
There were also rumors that Prince Charles had a poster of Streisand on his wall and he was "infatuated" with her. Other reports further claimed the Prince of Wales once said the singer was his "only pin-up." By then, he was separated from Princess Diana, but reportedly dating Camilla Parker-Bowles.
In the biography Barbra: The Way She Is by Christopher Andersen, sources claimed the two had an alleged private dinner nine months after he separated from his first wife. Some even claimed they looked "very affectionate" towards each other. The singer, however, also talked about Princess Diana and said she was very kind.
Streisand shared that when she met the Princess of Wales after her performance, there's a protocol that the Princess needs to get up first, but instead, Princess Diana pushed her up and made her get up first. Also, in her opening song, the singer referenced Meghan Markle, singing: "When the sun begins to sparkle, like that ring on Meghan Markle."
Meanwhile, Streisand and Kris Kristofferson reunited at the concert and performed their A Star Is Born duet live for the first time. The performance came as a surprise which is more than four decades after the two starred in the musical drama version in 1976.
Also, some of the stars spotted on the concert include Ralph Fiennes, Antonio Banderas, Richard E. Grant, Keith Lemon, Ronan Keating, Rebel Wilson, Kate Moss, and The Beckhams.
