A lot of familiar faces are going to make their way to Arrow Season 8. As Katherine McNamara will return to play a bigger role after her promotion as a series regular, Colin Donnell and Josh Segarra will also make a comeback in the last and final season of the series.
McNamara, who plays as Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity Smoak's (Emily Bett Rickards) daughter, Mia Smoak, will return in the final season as a series regular. The Shadowhunter star may take the place Rickards' left after her departure in the previous season finale, per TVGuide.
McNamara has a big void to fill, but as Mia seems to be following her father's footsteps as a vigilante, the 23-year-old star can surely deliver what is expected of her. The Maze Runner actress may also be a significant part of the entire flash-forward storyline that will be continuously seen in Arrow Season 8.
To recall, Mia teamed up with her brother, William (Ben Lewis), Hawke (Joseph David-Jones), and Zoe (Andrea Sixtos) to defeat the company Galaxy One in the previous season. They also brought down the wall that separated Glades from the rest of Star City.
But as being a vigilante is illegal in the future, the adults took the blame for the things Mia and the rest of the team did. They went to hide, but they would eventually step-up and save the city as the Future Team Arrow, which some predicted to be a spinoff series.
In Arrow Season 8, showrunner and executive producer, Beth Schwartz revealed the young vigilantes would experience the hardships of forming a superhero team. "They're struggling with how to be a team for the first time," she told Entertainment Weekly.
"There's also the feeling that these kids are just kids and they're flying without a net," co-executive producer Marc Guggenheim added. He said Future-Rene (Rick Gonzalez), Future-Dinah (Juliana Harkavy), and Future-Felicity were all gone in the Season 7 finale, so the young vigilantes have to figure things out on their own.
Meanwhile, Donnell and Segarra will also make their way to Arrow Season 8 as guest stars to reprise their roles as Oliver's best friend Tommy and Adrian Chase/Prometheus, respectively. However, their appearances are about to make an unexpected twist.
Schwartz told EW Adrian would return in a different way than expected. Guggenheim, on the other hand, teased Tommy would be different from the best pal that fans used to know of him. As a lot of mysterious things are about to happen, fans should watch for Arrow Season 8's return on Oct. 15 at 9 p.m. on The CW.
