Many speculations were surrounding Kevin Durant's recent move to Brooklyn Nets. Although there were many rumors that it was already his and Irving's plan long before the 2018-2019 NBA season even started, there is one rumor that really stood out until today. According to rumors, the former small forward star of the Golden State Warriors left his previous team because the Dubs mishandled his calf injury during the NBA 2019 playoffs.

Fortunately, Kevin Durant stepped forward and cleared this issue. In a report by Yahoo Sports, Chris Haynes asked the two-time NBA MVP if the Golden State Warriors mishandled his injury. Kevin Durant said he also heard several reports about Warriors putting pressure on him to get back in the game during the finals.

But Durant made it clear during the interview that nobody ever said a word to him when he was in rehab. During that time, Durant shared that it was only him and Rick Celebrin, the director of sports medicine and performance working out every day. The NBA star also revealed that when the series started he already had his eyes on Game 5.

Kevin Durant also said that nobody was responsible for his injury and that in basketball, things like these really happen. He also added that people should move on from this issue because he is going to play again. It can be recalled that the NBA MVP missed nine post-season games with the Golden State Warriors during the NBA 2019 playoffs after he strained his right calf during the second-round series against the Toronto Raptors.

Durant came back in Game 5 of the Finals when the Warriors was down 3-1 to the Toronto Raptors. But, his return was cut short when he exited the game after he ruptured his Achilles. Toronto Raptors won their first-ever franchise championship in the history. Kevin Durant later signed a max deal with the Brooklyn Nets after undergoing surgery in June to has his Achilles heels repaired.

The NBA 2018-2019 season was a tumultuous season for the Golden State Warriors. There were already rumors that Kevin Durant is going to leave the Warriors at the end of the year. The speculation escalated after the mid-November incident between him and Draymond Green.

Kevin Durant is now under contract with the Brooklyn Nets where he inked a four-year deal this summer. Durant's latest statement about the issue on his mishandled injury should end all the talks.
