Gareth Bale Makes Transfer Decision Amid Troubled Relationship With Zidane
Gareth Bale will either wait to see if Zinedine Zidane gets dismissed or continue pushing to be moved to China, reports say. The Welshman's switch to Asia was sacked by Real Madrid earlier in the summer but are highly unlikely to tempt a better bid out of a European rival.
Meanwhile, coach Zidane is reportedly under pressure following his failure of generating momentum for the club upon his comeback in the spring. That has led to Bale stretching out his patience and wait to see if the situation gets any better for him.
Bale came off the bench in Sunday's 2-2 draw at Roma as Madrid rounded off a low-key pre-season in underwhelming fashion. Zidane reportedly felt pressured to hit the ground running when the season starts for Real at the weekend at Celta Vigo.
However, the Frenchman is faced with some obstacles. The public feels that the poor form is not being attributed to Bale's absence. Should he make a good impression at the start of La Liga, all existing doubts will probably banish.
Real have already spent £300 million on transfers and if progress is seen by the winter, Zidane will be in trouble for sure. As for Bale, a new coach or perhaps a desperate Zidane could offer him a fresh start.
But Zidane has been adamant on making Bale leave, going as far as expressing his thoughts publicly. Naturally, Bale's agent came to the rescue, calling Zidane a "disgrace."
Bale has pretty much been offered to every big club. Before the English window shut, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United were targets for Real, as were Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. Unfortunately, neither of them wanted to pay £600,000-a-week for a 30-year-old player.
What's likely a successful move for Bale will be the Chinese Super League, given how close he signed for Jiangsu Suning before Real pulled the plug. Their window will again open at the end of the year, at which point Bale may again push to leave the club.
Fans believe that Real must admit that there is no future for Bale and Zidane. The coach has vowed not to play with Bale again after he went for a round of golf while missing a friendly due to "illness."
Real Madrid is also looking for one last huge signing, which could either be Paul Pogba or Neymar. But before that happens, the club has to offload Bale first.
