The new Misfit smartwatch is hitting the market this week. The new model is lightweight and has a sporty design. Simply called the Misfit Vapor X, the smartwatch has a powerful new chipset from Qualcomm, which is expected to improve performance and battery life.

The new Vapor X is expected to fix all the shortcomings of the Misfit Vapor 2, which was released last year. Perhaps the most important upgrade of the new Vapor X is its chipset. At the heart of the new Vapor X is the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset. While there is already a number smartwatch that already has this chipset, the tech community is still thankful that Misfit did not short-sell the Vapor X. Instead it decided to throw in some of the most powerful hardware.

Despite the Vapor X's impressive chipset, Misfit falls short when it comes to the watch's memory. The Vapor X only has 512MB memory, a somewhat odd spec for a smartwatch that has a Snapdragon 3100 chipset. Tech analysts have agreed that the smartwatch should have sported at least 1GB of memory which is commonplace since a couple of years ago. What further baffles many tech analysts is the fact that Fossil's Generation 5 smartwatches already have 1GB of memory.

Considering its spec, analysts agree that Misfit did a great job being able to cram every bit of hardware into a form factor that only weighs 43 grams. Misfit was able to pull this through by updating the smartwatch's design, which utilizes an ultra-lightweight alloy case. It also has a new Sport Strap Plus silicone strap.

As for its software features, the Vapor X has an impressive suite of functionalities. It has GPS, gyroscope, altimeter, and an accelerometer. It also supports GPS, as well as NFC, which can be utilized when doing contactless payment transactions.

Considering its features, the Vapor X is a prime smartwatch for those who like to workout. In terms of its battery, the Vapor X is rated to charge from zero to 80 percent in just under an hour. The smartwatch is also equipped with a new battery saving mode. The Vapor X has a 1.19-inch AMOLED screen. The case measures 42mm. It is water-resistant up to a depth of 30 meters. It also has a built-in microphone.

The Misfit Vapor X is now available on the company's official website. It is available for $199.99, but this is only for a limited time. Once it hits retail, the smartwatch will cost $279.
