'Game Of Thrones' Prequel May Introduce Garth Greenhand
HBO is now gearing up for its newest project, the Game of Thrones Prequel. The production for its pilot episode reportedly wrapped up, but details about the series remain scarce. As fans are now making assumptions on who will be appearing on the show, there are theories that Garth Greenhand will be seen.
HBO only dropped the spinoff series' setting, which will be set during the Golden Age of Heroes. It will feature the likes of Naomi Watts and John Simm in unknown roles. But, fans are now guessing the characters they are going to play.
As no one gives precise details about the series, fans turn into George R.R. Martin's source material to guess who will be the characters in Game of Thrones Prequel. One of the characters that are in the Age of Heroes is the legendary king Garth Greenhand.
He has a kingdom spanning The Reach and said to be a common ancestor to many houses, including the Tyrells and Florents. Although it remains to be seen if the mythical king is real, he is thought to have led the First Man across the Arm of Dorne.
Some stories said he interacted with the Children of the Forests and giants. However, according to Express, it has yet to be confirmed if he exists like Bran the Builder and Durran Godsgrief or an ancestor of anyone.
In Martin's A World of Ice and Fire, on which Game of Thrones is based, the names of the legendaries, including Garth Greenhand are names to conjure with. However, it is more likely that their legends "hold less truth than fancy."
"If Garth Greenhand ever ruled what he claimed was the Kingdom of the Reach," the book read. "It is doubtful its writ was anything more than notional beyond a fortnight's ride from his halls."
Garth will be an essential element of Game of Thrones Prequel as he is a part of the history of Westeros. He is also one of the Westeros' founders, so it may be probable that he is in the series.
Just like Bran the Builder and Lann the Clever, Garth plays a significant role at the time of the Age of Heroes. Business Times recently reported Lann might be seen in the spinoff series as the House of Lannister's founder.
Lann was a well-known figure during the Age of Heroes era, so it may be fitting to introduce this character. HBO is expected to drop a thing or two about Game of Thrones Prequel when its release is nearing. The show might be out either in 2020 or 2021.
