The largest Oceanarium in the Philippines is now open in Cebu. Cebu Ocean Park officially opened its doors to the public on Aug. 24, so locals and tourists alike can now visit the first marine park in Visayas and Mindanao. With its vast size of 1 hectare, people can now start making their way to this park and see what it has to offer.
Cebu now has a new tourist destination that is bigger than Manila Ocean's Park. Cebu Ocean Park can accommodate 3,000 people and has a main oceanarium tank that is 4,000 cubic meters and a water depth of 7.2 meters.
The place has 200 different animal species, mainly marine creatures. However, it also houses different kinds of birds, insects, and reptiles. For visitors' enjoyment, it has four main attractions: Deep Tank Lagoon that has a 360-degree view, Jungle Trek, Creepy Critters, and Multi-Animal Shows.
Deep Tank Lagoon, which is the deepest aquarium in the entire Philippines, will walk you through the watery depths that home various aquatic species. Here, you can see mermaids swim with marine animals, while its 360-degree viewing tunnel features big, toothy sharks, reel fish, rays, and a lot more.
Given its name, Jungle Trek will let you trek through a jungle filled with freshwater fish and other animals. Here, you get to see river giants in one tank and hand-feed lories and lorikeets. You can even learn a lot about freshwater fish here that mostly found in the Amazon and African rivers.
Creepy Critters will teach you that reptile and insects are not always scary. This exhibit will make you learn that their kinds are essential in diversity, and their dozens of species are all beautiful and unique.
Lastly, Multi-Animal Shows features a talented multi-species cast that will showcase their beauty, talent, and intelligence. It is a highly-entertainment and educational program that kids and kids-at-heart will surely love.
Other spectacles that you can see at Cebu Ocean Park are the underwater-adventure SeaTrek, Glass Bottom Ride, Stingray Interaction, Mermaid Swim Encounter, Bird Feeding, Fish Spa, and Crocodile Cage. According to Sugbo, the park's management cleared there would be no dolphin show, as it also has no plans to put dolphins in Cebu.
The long list of activities Cebu Ocean Park has is more than enough to keep everyone entertained. It also makes sure that every penny spent on the park will be worth it. However, different attractions come at different prices.
The Journey Experience costs P600 on weekdays and P800 on weekends for both adults and kids. Children that are below 2ft are free of charge. The Sea Trek costs P1,200, Crocodile Cage at P2,000, Fish Spa is P100 for 20 minutes, and Swimming with the Stingrays is at P1,000.
