There is little doubt that Shrek 5 is one of the most anticipated movies that have yet to be given an official production start or release date. Nevertheless, fans continue to wonder what will happen when the creatures of Far Far Away finally return to the big screen. Although there is a huge possibility that the fifth film will once again focus on Shrek's ongoing story, there are speculations that a different character will eventually take the spotlight. Could a new movie focusing on Donkey (Eddie Murphy) be the next major Dreamworks project?

It's no secret that Donkey is a true scene-stealer in the Shrek movies. First introduced in the 2001 film, Donkey found himself on a quest with Shrek to rescue Princess Fiona from a tower guarded by a dragon. This is where he meets the dragon who would eventually become his wife in the succeeding films. But could Donkey and Dragon get their spin-off movie?

The idea of Donkey's spin-off film isn't a new one for Eddie Murphy fans. There have been speculations that Shrek 5 will be about Donkey and Dragon while Shrek and Fiona will only play a minor role. However, there have been reports confirming that the fifth movie is a reboot. Nevertheless, there are still hopes that Donkey could finally get his film.

Dreamworks has previously produced a successful spin-off movie that focused on Puss In Boots, who is voiced by Antonio Banderas. There have even been plans for a second film although the project may have been stalled for now. Is there a possibility that the next Shrek spin-off will be about Donkey? It's certainly an interesting idea, but it is important to point out that this has not yet been confirmed.

In the meantime, fans continue to wait for Shrek 5, which is expected to reboot the entire franchise for a younger generation. It has been confirmed that the new movie will bring back the original cast including Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and Antonio Banderas. Although the premise of the new Shrek film has not yet been revealed, there are theories that it would bring the gang back to Far Far Away. In addition to that, the supporting cast like Lord Farquaad, Prince Charming, Fairy Godmother, and more are expected to play a major role as well.

Shrek 5 has not yet been given a production start date or an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
