Sarah Ferguson Revealed Thinking About Prince William And Kate Middleton’s Wedding Makes Her Sad
Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot in 2011. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's nuptials became one of the most popular wedding ceremonies of the royal family. A lot of people were invited to their union; even the public witnessed their “I dos” — except for Sarah Ferguson.
Sarah Ferguson was the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, who is the younger brother of Prince Charles and the second son of Queen Elizabeth. Although the Duke of York and their two daughters -- Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie -- were among the guests, Fergie was noticeably absent.
As it turns out, Sarah Ferguson was not invited to the highly-anticipated 2011 nuptials. But, the Duchess of York revealed that it wasn't the reason why she was sad when she thinks about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding.
“You’re happy for them, of course, but it’s sad because you’d love to do it all over again, but with the awareness that you have now. I would have fought for Andrew and me to be together after we got married, and he went to sea… I would have never let anyone come between us,” she previously said in an interview.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson knew each other since childhood. The pair eventually became a couple, got engaged in March 1986, and tied the knot four months later. Reports revealed that their marriage became rocky when the Duke of York was completing his royal duties as a naval officer, which meant he had to be away from home for long periods, and Fergie was unable to deal with that.
In March 1992, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson announced their separation. The end of their marriage was believed to be one of the main reasons why the Duchess of York was not invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding.
Now, it seems that the tables have turned. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s older daughter Princess Beatrice is set to marry her fiance Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi next year, and reports claimed that Prince William’s brother Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle might not be invited to the nuptials.
However, the decision had nothing to do with the snub that Sarah Ferguson received during Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding, but because Meghan Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the Yorks are feuding. The Duchess of Sussex debuted her baby bump at Princess Eugenie’s royal wedding last October, which the Yorks took offensively as it stole the to-be bride’s thunder.
“Tension has been brewing between Harry and Meghan and the York girls for months now,” a palace source told Woman’s Day. “Beatrice has confessed to friends that if she gets her way, they won’t be invited.”
